Lead Paint Detective Discovers Lumetallix

by | Mar 14, 2025 | Lead Detection, Lead Dust, Lead Testing | 0 comments

Anthony Weaver is a Lead Risk Assessor in Toledo, Ohio. The city of Toledo created its own Lead Rules in 2016. He is very connected to his community’s Public Health network. He has established himself as an expert, advocate, and educator for Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention. Since 2017, he has honed his skills and was gob-smacked when Anthony discovered that the Lumetallix Instant Lead Test existed, which was only invented three years ago in a lab by scientists in the Netherlands.

Lead Prevention Is Alive And Well in Ohio

The word Prevention means to prevent something from happening. Preventing childhood lead poisoning is our mission, but it has been a struggle. Without a $35,000 XRF analyzer or sending samples to a lab, there were no good tools to differentiate a hazardous situation from a benign one. After all, the danger is invisible to the naked eye. Lead screening tests for kids was how the whistle was blown to alert us to a problem. Testing kids is spotty at best in most communities and reserved for children of low-income families that need federal assistance.

Responding to a leaded child reported by a physician recently evolved into prevention in Toledo. Anthony says,” Responding to a leaded child is always heartbreaking”. However, a switch was flipped when the Lumetallix product arrived on the scene. Now, after spraying the reagent and shining the UV light, we can see the problem of previously invisible lead dust. He further states “much of my work is related to Federally funded lead abatement grants and doing Lead Clearance for contractors. Once I showed those renovators what I could see with The Lumetallix product, they could have their projects ready for lab testing and consistently pass on the first try.”

This pioneering discovery has changed the playing field. Once the problem is revealed, I can change my posture to prevention. I can teach prevention. That is my thing: creating video content loaded with great content. See his ever-growing library of lead-related videos.
