Hey, Is That A Contractor In Your Pocket?

Staged shot with my brother

Technology is becoming so important. I have seen the future and it dared me to think big. It begs the question, “Is that a contractor in your pocket? Or are you just happy to see me?”.

My daughter Athena lives in the Bay Area 800 miles away but she is able to get me to fix things with her technology. We fixed her dryer, a stuck oven drawer, and I was able to explain what the freezer sound was in her new apartment in 5 minutes. The other night I was able to turn power back on to a client’s sprinkler controller while driving away from his house. I have yet to be stumped at this new game.

The technology keeps getting better

Since Polaroids became a thing, I have brought my images to my local hardware store to help untangle some crazy situations. I never dreamed of calling someone at the store to ask them to diagnose using the video. We use face time regularly in construction. It is done with tele-medicine / tele-contractor why not? Brilliant!

The I-Phone. Face time and several other similar apps have opened a new avenue for me because I can’t be everywhere at once.

Now that I think if it, I have fixed things remotely for years, was even called a “virtual electrician” once, however I was using the caller as my eyes. This has been challenging at times with sensitive issues. For example, there are those that will tell me what they just did rather than what they are about to do, not helpful.

In the works for 40 years

When I was testing to become a paramedic I was asked to describe an orange to someone who had never seen one. We were the eyes and ears of the physician back then. It is so much easier now. I recall my paramedic partner, Doug Jay asking a mobile intensive care nurse for permission to put in an airway. “Well, let me put it this way, he’s turning blue and he had spaghetti for dinner”. That got him permission on the spot. How much more powerful it would have been to just show her? We use the technology everyday in construction, why not offer the service to the rest of the country?

Beam me up? Not quite yet

I’ll be there in a sec

I want to extend this service to others on a trial basis and encourage a call to see if we can untangle your situation with a face time video call. No I cant’ fix everything but I sure can give good advice. I have likely seen the problem before and have some suggestions to help save time, and as we all know (time =$).

Until I can transport myself ala star trek, this is the best I can do. For those of you that are Levco Care members the service is included.

Schedule your time slot

I am exploring a time scheduling program where people can sign up for 15 minute increments. If this sounds like a cool thing to try for yourself then just let me know.
