EPA Beefs Up Dust Regulations

by | Feb 19, 2025 | Healthy Homes, Lead Detection, Lead Dust | 0 comments

The EPA recently tightened dust rules in one area of the Federal Lead World. The rule does not affect projects that are not federally funded. The EPA is aware of our product and could incorporate it into the RRP and the Federal World of Lead any day, but it hasn’t happened yet. For now, the EPA is content with what it has and is content to follow and enforce regulations.

Where Is The Beef

Clara Peller had it right. The decrease in allowed lead micrograms per square foot in federally funded projects does nothing for residential remodelers or homeowners who are having their homes remodeled. It signals that less lead dust residue is better. Without a recognized test for lead dust, lowering federal regulations is pointless. ( Unless some federal grant is upgrading your home.)

The Solution Is Here

Helloooo, we have a scientifically proven, economical, and available test for lead dust NOW. Where is the fanfare and ticker tape parade? A writer at The New York Times wrote a highly insightful article about finding lead in your environment but didn’t mention the product’s most powerful feature: it illuminates lead dust.

The fascination with lead in our cookware and glassware is real. The industry causing all the problems is ready for an awakening. Lumetallix is the solution that has changed how we see lead in our environment. Here is a recent article from The New York Times about it.

Public Health Gets It

We made some inroads at the Healthy Housing Conference in Savannah, GA, which public health professionals attended heavily. The California Healthy Housing Conference was also attended by Public Health professionals but primarily focused on what California is in the midst of. Still, the overarching amazement of our product was breathtaking. Seeing the lead hazard that, until now, was invisible stops these pros in their tracks.

Federal Renovators Get It

Grants are being used to renovate homes with residential lead hazards. We can save them a ton of time and money with our Lumetallix instant lead dust test kit. Clearance testing at a lab takes 2-3 days from receiving it unless you put a rush on it. (Time=Money) At $100 a wack, you can see how hotel rooms and meals for displaced residents can add up quickly.

Frightened Moms Get It

There is lead paint in toys and in our older housing stock. They are discovering how to find it quickly and affordably with our instant lead test kit. There is lead dust in older homes and cooking vessels. Our instant Lead Test Kit makes it shine brightly under UV light. With 400 tests per kit, the value is obvious.

When Will the EPA’s RRP Program Get On Board?

I am a renovator and see the value in this product so much that I became an international importer and distributor. I have also been hounding the EPA about it for over a year with nothing to show. The EPA lives in a world of rules and bureaucracy, the likes of which I can not begin to imagine. They follow the rules, enforce them, and toe the line. They are not the rule makers, so I forgive them.

I would be excited to find a champion in or out of the agency who wants to make a difference. That person will make the RRP more reasonable by fixing the silly RRP Clean Verification Card, Allowing our product to illuminate the residual lead dust, and aligning our interests in preventing childhood lead poisoning in the country.
