More Canaries In The Coal Mine

Yellowstone Housing

I just received another sad case study of leaded children that reportedly occurred several years ago over a several-year period.

While enjoying living in a vintage national park housing complex, the employees were a young family of 2 with one on the way. The details in the article were sparse, but suffice it to say that once lead hit their collective radar when their eldest child started having unusual symptoms. They tested their dwelling to the best of their ability with a different testing product than ours and found what they believed to be lead. Then they went and had the children’s blood tested, and the diagnosis was ominous and devastating.

What the article didn’t say was whether the adult’s blood was tested. New studies are linking adult lead testing to some frightening statistical information.

Naturally, this tragedy will play out in the courts. No amount of settlement can untangle or undo the harm these children and their parents are going through. Who has the responsibility for lead testing? (Some jurisdictions are starting to wake up and hold landlords accountable.) Bravo, Toledo, OH.

Take Charge Yourself

The EPA says all homes built before 1978 are leaded until proven otherwise. There are roughly 36 + million homes that fit that category. Should everyone be concerned who has a kid or a pet? YUP! if the home was built before 1978 and you or a loved one is living in it. Test it with our kit. If you are disturbing painted surfaces, use our kit. Then clean the area until it doesn’t shine bright green under the UV lead-light. Ask how to remediate the lead and then monitor to ensure that your problem is gone. Look for more from us on this subject.

Preemptive Lead Testing Available For All

Everyone has access to our Lumetallix instant lead test. (A positive test will illuminate leaded components neon green)  Nothing is stopping you from testing your environment. We have proven time and time again that we are being exposed to leaded products that are everywhere, including at the stores that you shop in. No amount of lead is safe, especially for kids under 6 and pets. Get the product and test your environment ASAP.

There is no excuse for not being able to prevent lead poisoning because you just didn’t know. Test your work environment, Test your kids’ school. Test the soles of your shoes when you get home after walking past a jobsite. Test things you are considering buying. Test everything your kid comes in contact with. (INCLUDING BABY BOTTLES, yes many have lead on them too.) Follow Lumetallix on Instagram and see. The Lumetallix instant lead test is simple, and accurate, no waiting for wishy washy results. It either turns neon green or it is not lead.

CPS Knows

Consumer Product Safety is just one of the alphabet soups of federal agencies. They know about Lumetallix  Other than our test, there is no good way to see if the products we are importing are unleaded and safe. This is great news! If the purchasing agents of stores that import goods from overseas would just use it and screen out leaded imported items, we would be in a better place. The test is instantaneously read and is super sensitive and specific to lead.

The GAO Knows, So does the EPA, CDC, and HUD

These guys are our governmental agencies that are all talking about the problem. Here is what the GAO has to say. Until now there were no good test for lead dust (The root cause of lead poisoning). Lumetallix Instant lead test is now available anywhere in America. It is unclear if we will fall into or out of the good graces of our governmental agencies. For now the product is available for purchase online only. America needs this product to prevent catastrophes, like the one in the headlines.

Sadly, lots of lead poisoning goes undetected because the symptoms mimic that of the flu in kids. it is the horrendous cases and the ones that get the attention or when several kids turn up leaded in a cluster after mandatory lead testing for low income kids to be admitted to schools. Next thing you know, a risk assessment pinpoints the cause which in many cases are older public schools, and then the media descends.

Are we using poor kids as the canaries in the coal mine? Seriously, I think we are. Wealthy kids are having their homes remodeled. Nobody is testing them so we never know. This is frightening.

The More I learn About Lead Poisoning

With everyone knowing that lead is hazardous and nothing substantial happening on the preventative side of the pendulum, I am becoming more jaded about the issue. I wait patiently for the next crisis to hit the media, My focus is going to getting the word out about our test and the benefits that are associated with uncovering the invisible lead dust hazards that are all around us.
